BELOIT SWASHBUCKLER WAS THE REAL INDIANA JONES.
From: Wisconsin State Journal (Madison, WI) | Date: 1/24/2007
Everyone knows Indiana Jones, the archaeologist hero of three Oscar-winning films. But few people know that his legend began in Wisconsin.
Beloit-born Roy Chapman Andrews (1884-1960) is widely believed to be the model for Harrison Ford's most famous role. "I never had any choice of a profession," Andrews said. "I wanted to be an explorer and naturalist so passionately that anything else as a life work just never entered my mind."
Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Crystal Skull opens in Madison at the Marcus theatre on May 21.
