WELCOME 2008!!!!!

Well, getting close to that time again, sorry I'm away from all of you so we can't celebrate together. I'm snuggled into my cozy room here with a 6 pack of Mikes Hard Cranberry Lemonade and some shrimp and dip, so I can at least have a mini party as I watch the ball drop in NYC and then hit the hay for another days work. All we had to do today was clean up our mess from the weekend, haul out the trash and I had the rest of the day off to relax and rest up for tomorrows job. I could barely move last night I was so sore from 2 days of floor painting.
So, to all of you...HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Current Travel

Thursday night in Kentucky

The drive to Fort Campbell, KY was uneventful and smooth driving all the way. A little fog after Bloomington, but not bad at all.
Stayed the night at Days Inn and was awakened at 4:30 am by a thunderstorm and torrential rain.

Friday... on to Atlanta

Well, Roswell actually (just North of Atlanta.) This trip wasn't as smooth as Thursday's. Periods of heavy rain, slick roads, fog and stop and go traffic most of the trip. On top of that, the "check engine" light was on for the last 106 miles. I was told, not to worry...as long as it isn't flashing...which it wasn't. I don't remember the road that last 106 mi. as I kept my eye on the light waiting for it to start flashing. Made it safe and sound to my temporary home at the Studio 6 in Roswell until next Friday and then ... if I have the work done...get to head back home. That is if the 6" of new snow in Madison is gone by then. Hate to be picky, but I prefer the 60 degree temps here...even with some light rain.

Watch for more updates as the week goes on.

On the road again

One more night of sleep in my own bed and then I load up and head out in the am for a week...or two ...in Atlanta, painting 3 winterguard floors, some flags and uniforms. The plan is going part way...hopefully thru Kentucky by tomorrow night and then arriving in Atlanta late afternoon or early evening on Friday. We are starting in on the jobs on Saturday, so I want to be rested up before then. At least I am heading out before the big storm that is supposed to be moving in on Friday. Jeff should get a chance to try out his new snowblower Friday or this weekend.

Why now you ask?

After 62 years of being blog free, why start blogging as I  approach my 63rd birthday (on Jan 2*) ? Well, As I get older and my little grey cells seem to be dying off, I figured before I head out on the road again I would do this to document where I am at so family and friends can have some way of locating me in case I forget where I'm at and how to get home. Then you can send out the St. Bernard with a keg of whiskey to lead me back home. It's also a way to share some of the pics along the way which seem to be using up my computer memory. It may give a few clues... kind of like dropping breadcrumbs as to finding me as I travel the country. It also gives me a chance to just ramble on (as I always do). Instead of boring you with endless stories and details, you can just skip to the end for the punchline or at least have some pictures to look at.
